About the NuSTAR Science Operations Center
The NuSTAR SOC is located on the second floor of Caltech's Cahill Center for Astrophysics.
The SOC is responsible for generating NuSTAR's observing schedule and transmitting the weekly pointing plan to the NuSTAR Mission Operations Center at UC Berkeley's Space Science Laboratory. NuSTAR team members at the SOC monitor the health of the telescope and instruments and maintains NuSTAR as a well-calibrated observatory through frequent updates to the calibration database.
The SOC validates the NuSTAR scientific data for distribution to international science teams through the NuSTAR data archive at HEASARC (NASA/GSFC).
